Jamshyd Godrej - Chairman & Managing Director, Godrej & Boyce Manufacturing Company Limited.
Mr. Jamshyd N. Godrej is the Chairman of the Board of Godrej & Boyce Manufacturing Company Limited. He graduated in Mechanical Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology, USA. Mr. Godrej is the former Chairman of Ananta Aspen Centre (previously known as Aspen Institute India), Chairman & Trustee of Ananta Centre. He is the President of World Wide Fund for Nature – India. He is the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation, India Resources Trust and Council on Energy, Environment and Water. He is a Director of World Resources Institute, USA. He is also a Trustee of the Asia Society, USA. He is the Past President of Confederation of Indian Industry and also the Past President of the Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers’ Association.
Mr. Godrej is the Chairman of the CII Sohrabji Godrej Green Business Centre. The Centre is housed in a LEED Platinum demonstration building which is the first green building in India and the greenest building in the world at the time when it was rated. The Green Business Centre is a Centre of Excellence for green buildings, energy efficiency, energy conservation, non-conventional energy sources, water policy, water conservation, etc.
Godrej and Boyce Mfg. Co. Ltd. manufactures and markets refrigerators; washing machines; air conditioners; office furniture; home furniture; security equipment for banks (such as safes, strong room doors, bank lockers, etc.) and for commercial establishments and homes; locks and latches, forklift trucks and warehousing equipment; process equipment for chemical, petrochemical, refineries and allied industries; precision tools for sheet metal, zinc, aluminium; real estate development. The Godrej group are leaders in home appliances, consumer durables, office equipment, industrial products, consumer products and services.
Mr. Godrej is an ardent yachting enthusiast and has done extensive cruising along the west coast of India, the Baltic & North Sea, the Atlantic Ocean and in the Mediterranean Sea. The President of India conferred on Mr. Godrej the “Padma Bhushan” on 3rd April 2003.
Dr. Naushad Forbes – Chairman & Managing Director, Forbes Marshall
Naushad Forbes received his Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Stanford University and is PhD in Industrial Engineering. He also holds the B.A.S. in Industrial Engineering & History from the Stanford University. He has been a Consulting Professor in the Management Science & Engineering program at Stanford University since 1987. He has a number of publications to his credit including the following: Forbes N. and D. Wield, From Followers to Leaders: Managing Technology in Newly Industrializing Countries. He was instrumental in developing courses in Technology and Policy in Newly Industrialized Countries and the Management of Technology in Firms in Newly Industrialized Countries. Naushad Forbes has been elected as the Deputy Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry, Western Region for 2008 - 09. He is the Chairman & Managing Director, Forbes Marshall, India's leading Steam Engineering & Control Instrumentation company.
Pankaj Bhatia - Deputy Program Director, WRI & Director GHG Protocol.
Pankaj Bhatia is the Deputy Director of WRI’s Climate and Energy Program (CEP) and Director of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG Protocol). As Deputy Director, he helps manage one of WRI’s largest programs and oversees three work-streams – GHG Protocol, Major Emerging Economies objective, and Vulnerability & Adaptation objective. In addition to his role within CEP, Pankaj is one of the leading experts and authority on the GHG Protocol standards and tools, particularly in the areas of corporate, scope 3, mitigation action, and city accounting.As GHG Protocol director, he launched and led the three-year global process that involved more than 2300 stakeholders to develop the new GHG Protocol Scope 3 and Product Standards. From 1998 to 2000, he was vice president of Tata Energy & Resources Institute, a not-for-profit research organization based in Arlington, Virginia and affiliated to The Energy & Resources Institute (TERI), New Delhi, India. From 1993 to 1998 he served TERI, New Delhi on various projects related to implementation of the Montreal Protocol in India and development of environment policy for technology transfer and capacity building in Indian industry. He holds a Masters in process engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi and Bachelors in chemical engineering from the Institute of Technology, Banares Hindu University, Varanasi, India.
Pradeep V Dhobale - Executive Director, ITC Limited
P. V. Dhobale was appointed a Director on the Board of ITC effective January 3, 2011. He holds responsibility for Paperboards & Specialty Papers and Packaging businesses of ITC and also represents the Finance and IT functions on the Board. A Chemical Engineer from the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai, he joined erstwhile ITC Bhadrachalam Paperboards Limited (ITC Bhadrachalam) as a Management Trainee in 1977 and became its Managing Director in 2000. Following the amalgamation of ITC Bhadrachalam with ITC in March 2002, and subsequent integration of Bhadrachalam Paperboards Division with Tribeni Tissues Division, Dhobale took charge of the Paperboards & Specialty Papers Business as its Divisional Chief Executive. Dhobale is credited with the successful turnaround of ITC Bhadrachalam in 2001, and exponential growth thereafter. He spearheaded the growth involving capital infusion of over US$ 500 million through brownfield organic growth as well as acquisitions. Under his leadership, ITC's Bhadrachalam Mill has emerged as the largest single-location paper mill in the country producing more than half a milliontonnes of papers & boards. Under his stewardship, and in line with ITC's sustainability strategy, over 142,000 hectares of plantations were developed, the pioneering ECF and Ozone Bleaching Technology were introduced, ITC became a member of the Global Forest and Trade Network and successfully implemented a number of 'Clean Development Mechanism' Projects. Dhobale is an active member of several industry bodies. He is the past President of Indian Paper Manufacturers Association, past Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh State Council of CII, and is the Co-Chairman, Environment Panel of CII National Council. Dhobale is also the Founder President of Indian School of Business - Centre for Executive Education Alumni Association, Hyderabad Chapter. Amongst others, he is a Member of the Development Council for Pulp, Paper & Allied Industries.
Dr. Prodipto Ghosh - Member, Prime Minister's Council on Climate Change
Prodipto Ghosh is a multidisciplinary professional specializing at the interface of science, economics, and public policy. Currently, he is Distinguished Fellow and Director at The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), New Delhi. His concurrent positions include: Member of the Prime Minister’s Council on Climate Change; Member of the Eminent Persons Group on G-20 matters of the Ministry of Finance; Member of the Scientific Advisory Council of the Union Cabinet; and Member, Governing Council of the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR). He was a member of India’s Official Team for international Climate Change Negotiations from 2001 to 2009 and in 2012 (Leader of the Official Team during 2003-2007), and Principal Author of India’s National Climate Change Action Plan. He is also Chair of the Task Force on Climate Change of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). He is a former Secretary, Ministry of Environment & Forests, Govt. of India (9/2003 to 5/2007), and Additional Secretary and Economic Advisor to the Prime Minister (6/2001 – 6/2003). He has a Ph.D in Economics and Policy Analysis from the Carnegie-Mellon University, Pittsburgh PA, a B. Tech in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi, and was a member of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) from 7/1969 to 5/2007. He is Adjunct Professor at the Carnegie Mellon University and TERI University, and a Visiting Fellow at Smith College, Oxford University. He works on climate change, sustainable development, and governance issues.
Dr. Ram Sai Yelamanchili – Head, ECB Centre of Excellence, Bayer Group India
Ram Sai, a young polymer scientist – heads the Eco Commercial Building Program of Bayer in India, and also has been instrumental in driving innovation across the group with focus on low emission products, energy efficient buildings etc. Ram Sai has also been the driving force in setting up an emissions neutral office building for Bayer in Noida with a positive energy balance that also saves 67mtCO2e. He has a Masters degree in Chemistry from Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai and has his doctorate from Universitat Bayreuth, Germany. Also Ram Sai has been a visiting scientist with Cornell University, and has number of publications to his credit.
Girish Sethi - Senior Director, The Energy and Resource Institute (TERI)
Mr Sethi leads and manages the programme on promoting efficiency in the industrial sector, encompassing both large industries and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) at TERI. He has more than 30 years of experience in the field of energy conservation and environment improvement in the industrial sector and has been with TERI for the past 22 years.
Aside of providing strategic direction and coordinating the activities related to industrial energy efficiency, he has lead multi-disciplinary research teams in action research projects involving development/ adaptation of energy efficient and environmentally benign technologies. Mr Sethi is presently managing two large programs funded by international organizations that focus on holistic development of a few energy intensive small-scale industry sectors in India. He is also involved in matters related to inventorisation of corporate level GHG emissions and aspects related to transfer and promotion of low carbon energy technologies in the context of climate change.
Mr Sethi is a Chemical Engineer with Masters in Energy Studies from IIT, New Delhi. He has also completed a multi-disciplinary Masters course on “Technology in the Tropics” from University of Applied Sciences, Cologne, Germany.
