Survey on Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Inventorisation & Disclosure for Textile Companies in India

Since the Energy Conservation Act 2001, where the textile sector had been identified as one of the most energy intensive sectors in India, there have been a  number of initiatives undertaken to improve efficiency and better production processes, but the engagement on environmental and greenhouse gas emissions related performance has been limited. Textile companies at best engage in this area with key customer segments across EU and other regions to tap on export markets, however broader engagement and communication of environmental performance is limited. A cursory look at the textile sector GHG inventory practices reveals that proper disclosure guidelines are required.

The India GHG Program, a voluntary industry led partnership facilitated by WRI India, TERI and CII aims at closing this gap and understand the benefits and approaches for broader engagement of the textile sector with its key stakeholders in the region. In order to understand the requirements of specific disclosure guidelines for the textile sector, the India GHG Program invites you to participate in a voluntary survey that will help outline the guidebook, including recommended disclosures for GHG emissions for the textile Industry in India.

This survey will take approximately 15-20 minutes. At the end of the survey, we shall provide all respondents with a summary of the responses given and a key set of recommendations that will help organizations in disclosing their GHG inventories. All responses including identity of practitioners will be kept confidential and will not be shared externally.
